Is this a real app or just a shortcut?
It is a true Progressive Web App (PWA). Once installed, it runs in its own window, registers a service worker, caches tariff data, and works offline. iOS and Android both treat it like an installed app — long-press the icon and you'll see proper app options.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. After your first visit, the calculator, the UI, and all DISCOM tariff data are cached on your device. You can open the app while offline and calculate bills normally. When you come back online, the app silently refreshes in the background.
Do I need to update the app?
No manual updates. When tariff data or features change, the service worker fetches the update silently when you reopen the app with internet. You always get the latest 2026 SERC-approved rates.
Can I uninstall it?
Yes — same as any app. On Android: long-press the icon → Uninstall. On iOS: long-press → Remove App. On desktop: open the app, click the 3-dot menu in the window, then Uninstall.
Will it use a lot of storage?
Less than 1 MB total. The PWA ships no images or heavy assets — just the HTML, CSS, JavaScript and compressed tariff data.
Is my data sent to any server?
No. Calculations run entirely on your device. Your saved month-tracker history stays in your browser's localStorage. No analytics on your consumption data.
