How many years does rooftop solar take to pay back?
With the PM Surya Ghar subsidy, most Indian households recover the net cost in 3–6 years. Panels are warranted for 25 years with minimal maintenance, so everything after payback is effectively free electricity.
How do I apply for the subsidy?
Register at pmsuryaghar.gov.in, get your application approved, engage an empanelled vendor, install the system, get it inspected, and submit the subsidy claim — it's directly credited to your bank account.
